Carl Almeida, Partner, P49 Deesign
Drawing on decades of experience Carl will explore the broader creative influences and current trends in hospitality design and how they are interpreted in different market segments. His work as a Partner at Bangkok-based P49 Deesign & Associates encompasses resorts, urban hotels and spas in the luxury sector spanning a wide geographical area across Central and South East Asia through to the Middle East and Europe. Looking at issues of convergence, demographics, psychographics, branding and sustainability new light will be thrown on the creative design process. Following a presentation of his thoughts Carl will then be joined by our conference moderator Guy Dittrich for an on-stage conversation.
Carl Almeida is an Australian, residing in Bangkok, where he is a partner at P49 Deesign, an international design company specializing in interior design for hospitality projects. P49 Deesign, established over 30 years ago, is the largest specialist interior design firm in Thailand with a team of 150 working on numerous hospitality projects worldwide in regions across Asia, the Middle East and Africa and in places as far as Switzerland, and Tahiti.
Carl graduated with dual degrees of Bachelor of Architectural Studies and Bachelor of Architecture, both from the University of Adelaide, South Australia. He has been practising Architecture and Interior Architecture for 15 years previously in Australia, and now 14 years in Thailand.
At P49 Deesign, Carl is responsiblefor creative direction, business development and overall execution of hospitality projects in numerous countries throughout the world including India, China,Bhutan, Kuwait, Turkey, Egypt, Maldives, Indonesia, Malaysia, Oman, Tahiti and of course Thailand. He continues designing hotels, resorts and spas for the world’s foremost hotel operators including IHG, Starwood, Hilton, Marriott, Accor, and Hyatt to name a few.
