Rune Overdal Poulsen, Fritz Hansen
HI DESIGN ASIA SUPPLIER 2010 12TH MAY 2011
Republic of Fritz Hansen have been designing and manufacturing unique design furniture since 1872. The company is recognized as being a leader in today’s world of contemporary furniture, with classics dating back to the 50’s.
Our furniture, some of which was originally designed for hotels, has proven to enhance our customer image towards their clients. I am responsible for Business Development looking at new markets and the Hospitality segment.
Hospitality Design – How important is this sector for you?
The Hospitality sector is becoming increasingly important to Fritz Hansen. We have, over the last 4 years grown our business in hospitality hugely, and we recognize the potential that this segment holds for us, as a company involved with world class design, and an ever-increasing demand from both existing and potential Hotel customers.
What type of products do Fritz Hansen provide for hospitality projects?
We provide a wide range of products for hospitality projects. We can provide furniture solutions for all areas of a hotel, be it Lobbies, Conferencing & Meeting, Bar & Restaurant and rooms.
Our product portfolio spans all categories of furniture within a hotel; stacking chairs, executive chairs, lounge, tables & lighting.
Can you tell us something about Fritz Hansen’s strategy for the Asia Pacific region?
We are in the midst of strengthening our distribution network throughout Asia, creating more awareness about our brand and products. In terms of hospitality, participating in events like HI Design ASIA will help create focus towards the large hospitality segment in the region. We want to increase our reference base in the region significantly.
What do you find is the main challenge of getting in front of the right buyers?
There are many important people to speak to across regions, and so, finding the time to see them all can be difficult.
What do you think of the buyer attendee list for HI Design ASIA this year?
This years Buyer attendee list looks promising. A lot of new businesses and people to get to know. Good to see that some of the heavy weights in the industry maintain their presence. As always, quality before quantity.
What do you think about the format of HI Design compared to a traditional trade show?
The format of HI Design works very well. No time wasted in chasing down key decision makers and you get the chance to present your organizations products and services in a professional forum with professional people.
Overall, what are you hoping to achieve at this year’s event?
A minimum of 3 live and serious projects to work on. This combined with new important contact to people who make things happen in the region, would make this years event, a first for us, a good event.
