If you’ve been looking for a keyboard to complement your iPad, why not opt for one of iZen‘s gorgeous bamboo models instead of a plastic one? iZen Bamboo is the first eco-friendly bluetooth keyboard available, and is handmade from 92% bamboo. Not only is this keyboard pretty, but it’s renewable, recyclable, and won’t wreak havoc on the environment as e-waste at the end of its useful life.

iZen was created by Robin Behrstock and Ryan Stecher, and to get their idea of the ground, the duo funded the first round of production on their own. Recently sold on the internet and in local stores, the beautiful keyboards were snatched up by tech geeks in just a matter of weeks, and now the team wants to get production going again. To bring them to the market (where they will sell for $99), Behrstock and Stecher started a Kickstarter campaign just over a month ago. While the good news is that they’ve already exceeded their $18k goal, the even better news is that you still have a chance to get your very own keyboard through their campaign.

Each keyboard uses Bluetooth technology, has a built in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and charges with a USB 2.0 cable –the same one used to charge an iPhone or iPad. The keyboard measures 11.5″ W x 5″ L x .75″H and weighs in at  just a little over 1 lb.

In the future, iZen plans to expand with other products including walnut bluetooth keyboards, extended bamboo desktop keyboards, bamboo mouses and more.
