The Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a management agreement with Piyasombat Property for the first Hotel Indigo in Southeast Asia.
Hotel Indigo Bangkok is in the heart of Wireless Road, one of Bangkok's best known districts. Finding its place in the diplomatic district with its high-end residences, retail and office spaces, restaurants and entertainment outlets, the hotel is expected to be completed by late 2012.
Hotel Indigo properties are distinct for their unique design that reflects the culture, character and history of each hotel's locality. The 188-room Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road will suitably reflect its environment. HBA will lead the design work in collaboration with local architecture firm A49.
The new hotel will feature a specialty restaurant and bar, a business centre, meeting facilities, swimming pool, health and spa. The restaurant and bar will be designed by Diffusion, a joint-venture between HBA and Avroko, an award-winning design and concept firm.
Established in 2004, Hotel Indigo pioneers a new concept targeting upscale travelers who seek a unique hotel experience in an interesting location that incorporates historic, cultural and natural elements in its design.
The first Hotel Indigo to open in Asia Pacific is Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund, which is scheduled for September 2010 opening. Six Hotel Indigo properties have already been signed in Asia.
IHG owns a portfolio of hotel brands including InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Hotels and Resorts, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites.
